May 27 Update
By Janet | May 27, 2008
Friends,
Yesterday was a rough day starting with Peter being with a lot of pain. Dr. Chang was here within 10 minutes of receiving the telephone call. She immediately ordered a MRI for Peter. The MRI showed his sensory level had moved up his body a little and also showed swelling on the spinal cord. She ordered some steroids and to stop taking the blood thinners, because she was concerned there might be some blood seeping into the spinal cord. Since Peter is high risk for blood clots, she ordered an out surgery to insert a filter into the main vein which returns blood to the lungs an heart. Additionally they did an ultra sound to make sure there were not blood clots in the leg veins. Everything went according to plan and we ended up yesterday on a good note.
Today was even better! I had just climbed out of bed and received a call from Craig Hospital and they had a bed available on the 4th. Our prayers were answered and it seems like we have perfect timing. As you may know Craig Hospital works with a lot of young adults and as I understand it, they put them in groups or teams. Perfect! They plan for Peter to be here about 60 days.
The physical therapist worked with Peter this morning and Bud and I continued this afternoon. Peter is in better spirits this tonight even though Whitney left for Tulsa this evening. I’m sure he will miss her smiles. (Me too!) Pray for safe journey.
Also, we had a visit from Bob Green and his wife. Bob is the Pastor of Broken Arrow Heights Baptist Church and they are on vacation and heard about Peter. Another email made its way to the Pastor of the Honolulu Church of Christ (Graham McKay) and he came to the hospital to be with us. I can’t tell you about all the prayers and love Peter and Team Jessee are receiving. We have prayers via text messages and emails from all over the US and other countries too. It is a very calming knowing that prayers are being said and answered.
For Peter’s high school friends and teachers, thank you so much. The phone calls and text messages really helps.
Please help us with continued prayers as this is what we need most now.
Janet
PS For you atheletic nuts…. my first email and Peter’s picture was posted to Oklahoma High School Sports - The Magazine. (Click here) Also, please forward to all of the high school teams.
