July 23 Update

For some reason I did not get Bud’s update off Tuesday evening. I just kept waiting and waiting…… Since I was beating Bud and Peter in Wii bowling, maybe that was my reason. This morning Peter’s RN (Chris) came busting through the door!!!! Usually she is announced by hearing her laughter all over the 2 East Floor. She said in this really cheerful and loud voice. “Peter, I heard you took 24 steps!” Not two dozen steps because she is of the same mind set as me… that 24 steps sounds so much more than two dozen. When she breezes through the door everyone is on red alert for the next round. We are never sure what the agenda will be, but we are always ready for her arrival. Waking up at 0700 just can’t get any better when Chris is on duty. We are never sure which version will arrive, the very professional RN, the cheerleader, the advocate, the teacher or the friend. You all know that Peter is not all sunshine first thing in the morning. but this morning he came awake with a big smile! I think she has told everyone about Peter’s 24 steps. Who needs email.

We’re just waiting for Whitney and Peter’s best friend Wes Moody to arrive. Wes has sent thousands of text messages and played XBOX with Peter more nights than I can count. It is so cool to see Peter with his head set on, talking and playing Xbox with Wes. Wes has gotten Peter through some long nights.

The Miami Project is tomorrow, (Thursday) Wish us luck!
