Sept 14 Update

By Bud | September 14, 2008

Last week was another busy week but it was a good week. We have continued to go to OKC to OU Med Center for LoKoMat therapy on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and will continue this for the next few weeks. Friday while Peter was laying on the table, they asked him to raise his hips so they could put the harness on him. When  he raised his hips the therapist felt his butt muscles contract. They have felt them before but that was while he was walking on the machine with weight on his legs. This time he was laying on the table with no weight on his legs. We continue to believe that messages are getting through to the lower extremities. We also believe based on another therapist opinion that he still has some swelling around the spinal cord. Peter then confessed to me that he has always thought he was still swollen around the lower back based on when he would feel there with his hand. I had another young man that had this happen to him three years ago tell me that his swelling lasted nine months and after the swelling finally went down, he started regaining movement and sensation gradually. He is now back to about 85% recovered.

“Friday Night Lights” was another victory for the Broken Arrow Tigers football team. Our main man Carl Salazar was perfect for the night with two field goals, one being  40 yards that would have easily gone 50 and he was perfect on extra points. Peter is really enjoying the games and the team continues to make him feel a part of what is happening this year. Peter and the team are going to be victorious this year and I am starting to think a state championship is definitely in their reach.  They will win the goal ball and Peter’s golden legs will return.

Today we attended GUTS church with Butch and Jane Kabel, members of our hockey family. It was a perfect day to attend since it was the first lesson on healing and how God will heal us and how we must ask him to heal us. Trust me we are asking and we do see signs that God is working in Peter’s body. It was a great experience at GUTS church and just like all the other churches we have attended in the last few weeks, we felt we were part of their family. So many people are praying for Peter here in Tulsa and across the nation and it is very uplifting to know that there are so many that care.

We ask that you pray for all our friends in the Galveston and Houston, TX area. We think everyone we know did evacuate and are safe, but they still need your prayers for rebuilding what has been damaged. Pray for Peter to continue his progress, we ask God to rid his spinal cord of any swelling and to start the process of regaining sensation and strength in his lower body. With your prayers, Peter’s strength and courage…………………

He will walk again.
