October 26 Update

By Bud | October 26, 2008

Coming back from Cleveland last week without an answer of the cause of Peter’s occurrence was tough. Then we were unable to do any therapy due to a five day wait after the angiogram was performed which meant we were finally able to start therapy Thursday. The week and a half without therapy was tough on the mental side but Peter performed real well at St. Johns therapy and OU Med Center on the LoKoMat. Peter did real well standing with help and on the Total Gym performing squats. At OU he did real well on muscle test and had some excellent quad response. The improvement is very slow and gradual, but we do see some improvement if ever so slightly. His left foot seems to be moving back and forth a little more and the right foot is starting to move forward slightly. Both of these movements are on demand and not reflexes. We are gaining and we know our ultimate goal will be achieved. Peter’s attitude overall has stayed very positive, although there were a couple of tough days after the return from Cleveland. Returning to therapy helped thanks to Brad Potts at St. Johns and Professor Shirley James and Laura, a student, at OU Med Center. Peter is ready for this week to get in a full week of work.

This weekend four of my high school classmates paid us a visit, Diane Saparito, Carla Jones, Susan Bradshaw and Theresa Finder. Their request was to attend a Catholic Church today so Janet, Peter and I took them to our favorite Catholic Church, St. Bernard and was able to introduce them to our good friend Monsignor Patrick Gaalaas. St. Bernard is still praying for Peter and his name was mentioned during Mass for prayer request. This means so much to us that Monsignor Gaalaas is keeping Peter’s name on the prayer list and when victory comes, our church family at St. Bernard will have been an important part of the victory. Next Sunday we continue our tour of the churches that have been instrumental in helping us with our spiritual faith and well being. Next week our stop will be at St. John’s Episcopal Church. A prayer group made a prayer quilt for Peter and it was delivered to us while we were in Denver. We cherish this and another prayer quilt and have it with us everyday while we say our prayers. We ask everyone to keep Peter in your and your churches prayers. The prayers are working and we know God is listening and gradually healing and restoring Peter’s body and through your faith and Gods healing arms we know that………………………

He will walk again.
