Dec 14, 2008 - Sunday
The last week has shown some improvement. All our physical therapist are very excited with the progress they see. At the pool I told you last week that we increased the speed on the treadmill in the pool to .2 mph. This last week Peter was up to .4 mph. The OU professors at the LoKoMat are wanting to start sizing Peter for braces on his legs. This will give him the ability to get up on his own at home and work on walking more often. He will not be able to walk at the mall, but we will be able to take 10 steps at home and then 11 the next day and so on. We are still probably a couple of months from starting this, but we need to start on the braces soon. We have been working at home more on his core muscles. We need to strengthen the core to give him more stability for when he starts using the braces.
I met last week with Martha Ferretti, Director of OU Health Sciences Center to discuss starting the fund raising drive to place a LoKoMat at the OU campus in Tulsa. We are very excited about the possibility of getting this fantastic piece of therapy equipment in Tulsa. It will not only benefit spinal cord injuries, but stroke, muscular dystrophy, ALS victims, etc, and also help educate and give our physical therapy students up to date training and hands on experience. I ask your prayers to help us and give us direction to accomplish this goal.
I need your help and advise. We have a friend that is in need of help. His wife has had a recurrence of cancer and he has lost his job due to the economy and they are without health insurance. Does anyone know where they can go for help? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. I know there are answers if we seek the answer. I also ask you to continue your prayers for Katie Rennie, Lindsey Couri(brain tumor) and all the others we were with at Craig.
As I sit here tonight hearing the ice hit the roof and thinking of all the miraculous things that have happen, I wonder what the next miracle and answered prayer will be. The courage of a 19 year old boy that is doing everything in his power to overcome this set back in his life is in itself a miracle to me. We need your prayers to continue to ask God to heal him and to give him courage and strength so that one day……………………..
He will walk again
