January 18, 2009 - Sunday

It has been a very good week for therapy and when it is a good week, Peter is very positive and up beat.

This week at OU Med Center on the LoKoMat,  Wednesday he was able to keep the machine going with the machine doing 25% of the work with him supporting about 105 lbs. of his own weight. On Friday he was supporting about 125 lbs of his own weight and was able to take the machine down to where the machine was doing only 30% of the work and he was doing 70%. The OU therapist are telling us that he is making gradual positive progress. We are very encouraged.

At St. Johns therapy, his crawling and knee walking has improved dramatically. His knee walking, on my new manufactured pvc pipe knee walker, has improved to the point to where his legs are moving like they would if he was taking normal steps. Next week I will send a picture of him on his knee walker. My homemade knee walker has become a hot item with the OU Med Center and St. Johns. Both places have submitted orders and I have gone to my manufacturing facility, my garage, and made one for each of them. I delivered OU’s to them Friday. They wanted one so another patient could put it to use. St. Johns and OU are both saying that his hip flexers are getting stronger and that is why they feel he is ready for leg braces. Hopefully we will have the braces by the middle of Feb.

Our therapist have been an answered prayer. Shirley James and Amy Thiessen at OU Med center and the students there have been awesome. I feel that if God had not provided the OU Med Center and the LoKoMat for us, we would not be as far as we are today. Janet Day and Brad Potts have adapted their methods to meet Peter’s needs. Then we have Debbie Beicaler at St. Francis that is providing pool therapy for us at Jenks High School therapy pool. These three facilities are doing everything in their power to help us accomplish Peter’s goal.

This has been a good week for miracles and seeing how God works. How could anyone deny that God was not protecting those passengers on U.S Airways Flight 1549. 155 people surviving with the worst injury being two broken legs. I just hope that everyone of those passengers got on their knees and thanked God for their survival and that not one of them will even consider suing the airline. It was by God’s grace that they survived.

God is providing for us and giving us small miracles along the way. Our latest one is Butch Kabel. The holidays were tough on Peter and I needed a spiritual leader for Peter. Butch, a former hockey coach here in Tulsa, has filled that spot in Peter’s life. Butch is very inspirational and knows God’s word and has answered many of Peter’s questions. This was a God send for us.

With God providing many miracles on this earth and a few for us, we know that the one miracle that will happen is that……………………………………

He will walk again
