I can’t believe it has been two weeks since Peter’s birthday and thanks to many of you it has been a great two weeks. I forgot to tell you that on his birthday, Janet, Whitney, Peter and I went to an OKC Thunder NBA game against the San Antonio Spurs with his good friend Carl Salazar and his dad Ken. They are big Spurs fans but since it was Peter’s birthday they allowed the Thunder to beat the Spurs. It was a great evening and thanks to Carl and Ken for going with us.
Peter has been progressing almost on a daily basis. His walking on the braces with the aid of a walker is getting better. All his therapist are just amazed at his progress. I am no longer holding on to him while he is walking. A week ago last Friday the OU staff had him doing some sidestepping. This is huge since this uses a different set of muscles. He is also able to move the legs backward. They are also working with the crutches trying to graduate him to the crutches. Today he was walking on our driveway and he just kept going and walked out into the street and when he finally stopped he had gone 220 feet. Our neighbors are just amazed. He is getting there and with the attitude he has he will accomplish his goal. Peter has been getting some spiritual counselling from a couple of gentlemen, Butch Kabel and Kurtis Huntsinger, from GUTS Church and this has been a tremendous help on the spiritual side. This has been a big contribution to his mental attitude. Thanks to Butch and Kurtis.
There are many prayers coming from all of you around the country. Attached are pictures of a special group in Florida. Nadine Hearn, mother of my friend Steve Brewington, is a member of this group. Steve and I went to college together in Fort Scott, Kansas. Steve played football and I played basketball. We lived in apartments next to each other and when we left and went different directions we did not see each other for 30 years. About 5 years ago at a American National sales meeting, Jerry Jones Vice President of claims for our company, wanted to introduce me to a new claims rep. It was Steve and it took both of us a couple of minutes to realize who the other one was. Steve and his mothers prayers and support have been tremendous and with a group of beautiful ladies that are displayed in these pictures, we know that God is listening to their prayers and……………………………………..
He will walk again
